News from Heights Chateau

This week's second installment represents the new arrivals of last week, the wee of 9/17. The bulk of the re "new arrivals" are 2009 Bordeaux, all of which went directly to the air-conditioned comfort of the basement. This vintage, 2009, is considered an exceptional one, and while most of the wines are not ready to drink at this point (with some, as noted below, expected to age productively for up to 50 years), you should be aware that we have them stashed away.

crisp, balanced, full-bodied and mineral-driven, with hints of pepper and spice

a white Bordeaux look-alike, refreshing and zesty, displaying tangerine and lemon notes, followed by a crisp and vibrant finish
Nisia 2011 Verdejo @ $14.99
produced from fifty-year-old vines, an organic Rueda ripe and abundant fruit and a rich, mouth-filling texture
(new vintage) Emmolo 2011 Sauvignon Blanc @ $15.99
crisp, clean and elegant, with excellent balance between fruit-driven flavors, juicy acidity and just the right touch of mineral
Bichot 2009 Bourgogne Blanc @ $17.99
dry, medium-bodied, and fruity, with a broad mouthfeel and refreshing acidity that lead into a medium finish
Acacia 2010 Chardonnay @ $18.99
layers of baked apple and pear with notes of tasted oak from barrel ageing, balanced with plenty of bright acidity

restrained and very classy, with all the flinty and grassy notes for which Sancerre is duly famous

dense, intense and serious, packed with ripe but fresh black currant fruit with an overlay of vanilla and smoke, lots of flesh and tannin to match
Pontet Canet 2009 Pauillac @ $279.99
garnering 100 points from Mr. Parker and described as "a wine of irrefutable purity, laser-like precision, colossal weight and richness, and sensational freshness . . . a tour de force in winemaking that is capable of lasting 50 or more years"
