Sorry to have been MIA for a bit, but your reporter had the opportunity of a mid-winter break of two weeks in Tucson and (needless to say) took it. San Franceso 2011 Campania Alta Costa @ $19.99
From a small winery on the Amalfi coast started only three years ago by three families, a blend of Falanghina, Biancazita and Pepella, light-bodied with undertones of ripe stone fruit and a slight "zing" on the palate
(new vintage) Sauterau 2012 Sancerre @ $19.99
a soft, mellow Sancerre, beautifully rounded, with acidity, freshness and balance, intense and elegant flavors with vegetal and spicy notes
Barboursville 2012 Viognier @ $22.99
From Virginia's wine country, an exceptionally articulate version of this grape, made and aged in stainless steel, with a firm, ample, harmonious structure
Fournier 2012 Pouilly-Fume @ $24.99
From just across the river from Sancerre, crisp and vibrant with fresh white peach flavors, an aromatic hint of wet stones, and mouth-watering acidity

From a relatively new family winery in Rioja Alta, aromas of ripe black fruits blended with herbs and spices, round and creamy on the palate

Sean Thackrey 2011 Orion Native Red @ $106.99
Thackrey's top of the line red, made from the five-acre Rossi vineyard in St. Helena, which is mostly old-vines Syrah, full-bodied, rich, and bursting with personality, the wine is unique/singular, with an incredible intensity
