News of the week

August is a quiet time in the OK Corral, so there is very little to report (four new wines, see below). No tasting scheduled for today, but we have persuaded my husband, John Sheldon, to do duty next week. I did put together a new sampler, "Chillable Reds" (a Beaujolais, a Pinot, and a Valpolicella @ $61.99) but haven't done the write-ups yet . . . promise for next week. Meanwhile,

one new white, Les Grandes Vignes du Roi 2008 Cotes du Rhone @ $14.99

one new red, Ortas 2004 Rasteau @ $21.99 (lovely, had it last night)

and two new roses:
Mas Carlot 2007 Cotes de Provence @ $8.99
(new vintage) Perrone 2008 Bigaro @ $18.99 (a longtime favorite of mine, this is really for dessert: a blend of Moscato and Brachetto, partially fermented, so only 5% alcohol and some residual sugar . . . great with anything made with fresh berries)
